Value is not real until it has settled, yet platforms routinely act on what is merely shown or pending. This RFC defines Settlement and the principle that 'shown is not received, and received is not settled,' so the platform releases value and goods only against funds it actually holds. It serves Epistemic Authority and is load-bearing for both online checkout and the in-person point of sale.
