Topic: Human
OHM is the collection of RFCs in this repository, and every subsequent RFC will, in some way, model or interact with the Human entity. A shared, dedicated definition of what a Human is in OHM is the prerequisite for everything that comes after it — Identity, Interiority, Agency, Relationality, Temporality, Wise Speech, Informed Consent, and any future work all depend on a common understanding of what is being modeled in the first place. Without that foundation, every subsequent RFC has to re-litigate the question of what a Human is on its own terms, and the framework as a whole loses coherence.
This RFC establishes that foundation. It treats the definition of Human as substantial in its own right — expanding the five foundational properties (Identity, Interiority, Agency, Relationality, Temporality), making explicit what a Human is inherently the expert on (their experience, feelings, body, needs, wants, values, intentions, meaning), and articulating four cross-cutting commitments (Embodiment, Epistemic Authority, Whole-Brain Representation, Dignity) that condition how all five properties may be modeled. It also takes a position on Personhood — when a Human enters standing within the model — grounded directly in the definition itself. With this in place, future RFCs can be proposed and evaluated against a stable, articulated foundation.
