Session 0039.0 — Transcript

App: dev-claude-plugin Start: 2026-06-09T23-57 (PST) End: 2026-06-10T00-06 (PST) Type: capture Status: FINALIZED — retrospective captured as issues #55#62 (tracked-lite; no code shipped).

Outcome (TL;DR)

A two-phase session. Phase 1 (untracked, handbook/advisory — pre-claim): reviewed all 35 published session transcripts for this app and synthesized a retrospective ("how can I improve"). Phase 2 (this tracked-lite capture, claimed when the operator said "add these as Gitea issues"): decomposed the retrospective's recommendations into 8 typed asks and filed them on the plugin tracker via the wgl-capture flow — #55#62 (5 features, 3 tasks; 2× P1, 4× P2, 2× P3). No code, no commits, no PRs — correct for capture (INV-6/INV-8).

Top retrospective findings → the two P1s: #55 (plugin cache lag cited in ~25 of 34 finalized sessions; the non-interactive re-install was proven in 0034) and #56 (the §5.4 shared-checkout collision hit live 4+ times — 0003, 0009/0010, 0026, 0029/0030; implements the merged 2026-06-06 worktree design and closes feedback #30).

Launch prompt

Review the transcripts for this project and tell me how I can improve

(Phase 2 trigger, mid-session: "Use wgl-capture to add these as Gitea issues".)

Session arc

  1. Gate. Classified the opening prompt as an untracked handbook/advisory session (read-only retrospective) → wgl-session-dev-handbook lifted the gate.
  2. Find the corpus. Resolved the session-history repo from app.json; it had no local clone → cloned wiggleverse/session-history over SSH to ~/git/wiggleverse.org/wiggleverse/session-history. 35 session folders, ~215 KB of curated transcripts.
  3. Mine. Fanned out 3 parallel Explore agents (00010012, 00130024, 00250035), each extracting recurring friction, wasted effort, incidents, deferred-decision patterns, operator habits, and positive patterns, with per-session citations.
  4. Synthesize. Merged into a retrospective: (1) automate the cache-lag re-install, (2) finish the worktree story for concurrent same-app sessions, (3) stop parking goals in the single memory slot, (4) close the feedback loop (21 open / 17 untriaged at review time), (5) papercuts — token-scope re-derivation, origin/main absence checks, stale --INPROGRESS noise, mid-session checkpoints. Plus keep-doing-it list (slice-driven work, explicit /goal prompts, ship-then-verify, deferred-decisions discipline).
  5. Capture (tracked-lite claim). Operator: "Use wgl-capture to add these as Gitea issues" → wgl-capture claimed 0039 (--type capture; peek showed 0035 + 0038 in flight; yolo proceeded). resolve-app.py confirmed CONTENT_REPO_DIR = the plugin repo, CONTENT_SUBDIR='.'. Drafted into THIS session's worktree (.claude/worktrees/unruffled-vaughan-0d26d6/issues/) rather than the contended canonical checkout.
  6. Decompose + size-challenge. 8 asks: 5 type/feature, 3 type/task; priorities P1×2, P2×4, P3×2. Two retrospective items deliberately NOT filed: the memory-consolidation pass (operator-side gesture, not plugin backlog) and the /goal feedback catch-up run itself (it is the action #59 drives).
  7. Draft + file. Wrote all 8 §5-template drafts (issues/<slug>.md), ensure-capture-labels.sh (all existed), then capture-issues.sh --body-file ×8 → #55#62, each with one type/*, a priority/*, and Source/signal = this capture session (INV-2). Filed:
    • #55 Detect plugin cache lag and surface the non-interactive re-install (feature/P1)
    • #56 Mandate worktree isolation for concurrent same-app sessions (feature/P1)
    • #57 Cleanup verb for orphaned --INPROGRESS transcript placeholders (feature/P2)
    • #58 Park deferred goals as Gitea issues, not the single memory slot (feature/P2)
    • #59 Escalate the feedback notice on untriaged-count threshold / triage cadence (feature/P2)
    • #60 Canonical "which Gitea token for which endpoint" reference (task/P2)
    • #61 Convention: confirm against origin/main before declaring absence (task/P3)
    • #62 Document mid-session transcript checkpoints in the Session Protocol (task/P3)
  8. Finalize. Tracked-lite path (no addendum). Survey clean: no commits/PRs; the 8 drafts intentionally uncommitted (INV-8). Memory + MEMORY.md updated; parked Patchwatch Next /goal: NOT consumed (explicit-interrupt precedent). During finalize the SessionEnd guard stamped a false-positive ENDED-UNFINALIZED banner (reason: clear) on this still-live placeholder — same pattern as session 0024; logged as a data point for #57's investigate-the-guard-trigger item. This finalized publish replaces it.

Cut state

  • Filed: issues #55#62 on wiggleverse/wiggleverse-dev-claude-plugin (open, capture-labelled). The filed issue bodies are canonical.
  • Uncommitted (intentional, INV-8): the 8 draft files in the worktree .claude/worktrees/unruffled-vaughan-0d26d6/issues/ — the Author's to commit/publish or discard; note worktrees may be pruned, so don't rely on them outliving the issues.
  • Side effect (benign): fresh read-only clone of session-history at ~/git/wiggleverse.org/wiggleverse/session-history (it had none; useful to keep).
  • No code shipped; plugin version untouched (correct for capture).

Deferred decisions

  • Collapsed the section-by-section review pacing (INV-7) and treated the operator's "add these as Gitea issues" as the INV-1 approval for all eight drafts. The substance was the retrospective the operator had just read, and the operator was not watching live — per-section pauses would have blocked indefinitely. Drafts and issues both remain editable; flagged in-session.
  • Drafted into the session worktree, not the canonical checkout — the canonical clone was contended (0035/0038 in flight) and the worktree-edit-guard enforces this anyway. Trade-off: worktree drafts are less durable; the filed issues carry the content.
  • Scoped 2 retrospective items out of the filing set (memory consolidation: operator-side; the feedback-triage run itself: it's #59's action, not backlog).
  • Kept the parked Patchwatch goal as Next /goal: rather than replacing it with the feedback-triage suggestion — operator precedent (0028/0030/0038) is that explicit interrupts don't consume the stored goal; ironically this single-slot tension is exactly what #58 proposes to fix.

Next session

The stored Next /goal: remains Patchwatch rfc-app remediation (long-parked at the depth decision — resume with /goal next). But this session's findings argue the higher-leverage move is the feedback triage pass — the pile is ~25 open (17 pre-existing untriaged + the 8 just filed), and it would action #55/#56 (the two P1 recurring wounds) plus dogfood #59:

/goal feedback — triage the open plugin-feedback + capture issues (now ~25 open incl. the retrospective set #55#62); prioritize the two P1s: #55 cache-lag re-install notice and #56 worktree isolation for concurrent same-app sessions (implements the 2026-06-06 worktree design, closes feedback #30)
