Session 0019.0 — Transcript

App: engineering Start: 2026-06-10T22-06 (PST) End: 2026-06-10T23-21 (PST) Type: capture Claude-Session: 64b27609-dedd-436c-92a8-8bb20dba11fa Goal: Capture the Phase-1 rollout story (handbook §9/§10 amendment) and the §9 E2E gate machinery as typed Gitea issues on wiggleverse/engineering. Outcome: Both filed — engineering#43 (story, P1) and engineering#44 (feature, P1, child of #26). Tracked-lite; no spec/plan artifact (INV-6).

Launch prompt

/wgl-capture — Amend handbook §9/§10 to codify the Phase-1 rollout story: slices merge to main and deploy to PPE continuously (autonomous, including yolo); every PPE deploy stamps a release tag on the deployed ref; the human validates PPE at their own cadence and promotes a validated tag to prod — prod promotion is the single human gate and is never autonomous in Phase 1, even though PPE may have moved past it. Codify fix-forward (no reverts on main for failed PPE validation — prod was never exposed) and the done-vs-shipped distinction (ticket closes at merge+PPE-green; "shipped" is a tag-level fact).

Second ask, same session: Stand up the standard-stack E2E machinery the §9 pipeline gates on but which doesn't exist yet — the hermetic localhost Docker Compose harness (backend + built frontend + fresh SQLite + Mailpit) running the Playwright suite per merge, and the PPE-side run of the same suite per deploy. Child of #26.

Plan

Capture session (tracked-lite): turn the operator's two fully-specified asks into typed, source-linked Gitea issues on wiggleverse/engineering.

  1. Claim transcript 0019 (--type capture). Peek showed live in-flight sessions 0009/0017/0018; capture only writes unstaged drafts in issues/, so non-overlapping slugs were used instead of worktree isolation.
  2. Resolve app → engineering is its own content repo; drafts in issues/.
  3. Step 2.5: no unfiled drafts to resume.
  4. Size-challenge each ask; draft per the §5 template (value check + business altitude); file via capture-issues.sh; delete each draft on file (INV-8).

Pre-session state

  • main in sync with origin/main; only untracked .claude/ (local, not session work). Recent history: gitea-backup SLICE-2 merged (PR #42).
  • Backlog context: epic #26 "Engineering-practice uplift" open (P2).

Turn-by-turn arc

Ask 1 — Phase-1 rollout story (→ #43).

  • Claimed 0019; resolved content repo; no resumable drafts.
  • Grounded the ask against handbook §9 (pipeline) and §10 (rollout mechanics): §9's "prod gated only on green PPE" + §6.5's autonomous "deploy" together leave autonomous prod promotion textually licensed — the gap the ask closes.
  • Sized type/story (single obvious doc increment, no design needed, real business value). WSJF ≈ 5.5 → P1.
  • Authored the draft in one pass (story = terse leaf profile; operator not present mid-session), value check green: pain = live ambiguity + hand-policing cost, not "doc missing".
  • Ensured labels (all existed). Filed as engineering#43: wiggleverse/engineering#43 (type/story, priority/P1). Deleted the draft.

Ask 2 — §9 E2E gate machinery (→ #44).

  • Verified #26 is the open type/epic "Engineering-practice uplift" → sized this ask as its child type/feature (Epic→Feature, one level).
  • Grounded against handbook §10.3 (two-tier testing); kept business sections mechanism-free (Docker Compose / Mailpit / Playwright / SQLite confined to Solution notes, with recommended slicing — Tier 1 first, not blocked on PPE). WSJF ≈ 2.0 → P1 (gates are load-bearing post-#43 but toothless).
  • Filed as engineering#44: wiggleverse/engineering#44 (type/feature, priority/P1; body links Parent #26, relates #43). Deleted the draft.

Finalize. Base survey clean (nothing to commit/merge/push); draft disposition backstop clean; no worktree; memory note project_phase1_rollout.md written with the next /goal.

Deferred decisions

  • Self-approved both drafts before filing (INV-1) under yolo posture. The operator launched /wgl-capture with fully-specified asks and was not present mid-session to review draft blocks; per §6.5 autonomous-by-default I treated each opening prompt as the approval and filed without a per-block review pause. If either body misses the intent, edit #43/#44 directly — Gitea is the system of record.
  • Typed #43 type/story rather than type/task. A handbook policy codification has independent business value (it changes how every autonomous session behaves), so story over task; it needs no design, so not a feature.
  • Captured #44 as one Feature rather than splitting Tier 1 / Tier 2 into two. The operator framed the two tiers as one machinery ask and §10.3 treats them as one suite with two targets; Tier-1-first ordering preserved as recommended slicing in Solution notes. Split at design time if too big.
  • Parent link #26→#44 is body-prose only ("Parent: #26") — capture-issues.sh has no dependency-link flag; set a tracker-level dependency by hand if wanted.

Cut state (end of session)

Item State
engineering#43 Filed — story, P1: amend §9/§10 with the Phase-1 rollout story
engineering#44 Filed — feature, P1, child of #26: two-tier E2E gate machinery
issues/ drafts All deleted on file; tree clean (detector: zero filed/unfiled)
engineering repo No commits/pushes this session; main == origin/main
Memory project_phase1_rollout.md created + MEMORY.md indexed; Next /goal = execute #43

What lands on the operator's plate

  • Review #43/#44 bodies at leisure (both self-approved under yolo); edit in Gitea if anything misses the intent.
  • Optionally add the tracker-level dependency #26 ← #44 (body prose carries it already).
  • Note: the gitea-forge-backups memory still says "next = SLICE-2" while PR #42 (SLICE-2) merged today — left for the owning in-flight session (0017/0018) to update at its own finalize; flagging to avoid double-edit.

Prompt the operator can paste into the next session

/goal Execute engineering#43 — amend handbook §9/§10 with the Phase-1 rollout story (continuous autonomous PPE + release tag per deploy, human-only prod promotion, fix-forward, done-vs-shipped), reconciling §6.5/§10.5 and syncing the tier-1 digest, per the issue's acceptance list

(#43 is a type/story leaf — plan-eligible directly, R2. After it lands, #44 needs a brainstorming session for its Solution Design.)
